Name: Abigail Hart

Where are you from, and what brought you to the area?  I’ve lived all over! I grew up in Connecticut, went to school in D.C., spent time in Chicago, and then moved to Asheville (where I met my husband, Henry, at a local run club). We moved to the area last August for Henry’s job, with our daughter, Lily, in tow! We love it here and now own a home in Carrboro.

Why do you run?  Wow, this is a hard question! Mostly, it’s to better connect with myself and my community. Running has always been a way to check in with myself while introducing me to so many incredible people. It’s also one of those rare things in life that always gives back what you put into it. Sometimes that means getting faster; other times, it just means that if you get out of the house early, you might see something cool like a beautiful bird, or finish with a fresh perspective on your day or where you live. That’s really special!

Why did you decide to join Carrboro Run Club, how long have you been running with us, and what keeps you coming back?  Henry actually grew up in Chapel Hill and went to college and law school in the area, so he ran with Carrboro Run Club back then. When we moved here, we started coming regularly (always pushing Lily in the stroller!). Since then, we’ve made so many friends that I just know we’ll have for life: Yik, Emma, and their son Carlo; Emily Halpin; Sarah, Neil, and their daughter Eloise; Emily, Jonathan, and their son Bennett... the list goes on!

Tell us about your best/worst/weirdest running moment:  Picking one moment is hard, because running is the best, the worst and the weirdest all the time. One of the

best moments was my first run after having Lily. For the first time in nine months, I was totally alone with my body, doing something I loved just for me. I remember feeling so proud of what my body had accomplished, and deeply grateful that I was back out there running. After that, I kept going and trained for the Chicago Marathon! Human bodies are amazing, and women are incredible.

Describe the most recent (appropriate ☺) photo you took with your phone:  The most recent photo on my phone is of Henry sitting on our deck. He’s fashioning binoculars (since it’s fall migration season) and socks printed with Lily’s face. I’m really lucky.

If you could eat only one meal or food for the rest of your life, what would it be?  Perhaps the most basic answer I could give but, sushi. Especially if it comes on a boat. I love a sushi boat.

What is something you have done recently, or are about to do, that you are proud of?  I was just accepted to run the 131 Boston Marathon next April!

Umstead Park, NC

These 4 (and a half) runners completed the Zen Squirrel Challenge together in Umstead (another remote race due to covid).

Berlin Marathon

The Pint Cup traveled a bit around Europe and then casually ran the Berlin Marathon with Doug Kopec!

Blue Ridge Relay – 2019!

Several groups of pub runners (UNC Med students, Godiva Track Club master's ladies) headed west in 2019 to the mountains of NC to run the Blue Ridge Relay! The pint cup helped them all run 200 miles to the finish line in Asheville, NC!

Virgin Islands National Park

The Pint Cup loves to hike! Especially when the hike is located in tropical weather with beaches nearby, and animal friends to be made.

Mt. Everest Base Camp, Khumjung, Nepal

Prayer flags and beautiful mountain views - the Pint Cup trekked all the way to Everest Base Camp, while fundraising for the Multiple Myeloma Foundation. What a badass Pint Cup. The Pub Runners that accompanied the cup are pretty cool too.

Zion National Park, Utah

Some badass Station Pub Run Pint Cups went to run the Zion 50k. The cups let these runners tag along, for photo ops only.

Mt Everest View Hotel

The first glimpse of Mount Everest in the Background during  the Pint Cup's trek to base camp. The Cup was kind of enough to let Anne and Robert tag along on this life changing trip.
